EDC Tactical Medicine

400 US dollars
Volusia County Gun and Hunt Club

Class Description

This course is designed for everyday civilians and law enforcement officers who carry lifesaving equipment—not for EMTs or hospital-based providers. EDC Tactical Medicine focuses on simple, proven, and legally defensible life-saving measures that can be applied immediately in violent, traumatic, or austere environments before professional medical care arrives. Instruction emphasizes what works in the real world, using tools and techniques realistically carried by civilians and patrol officers. Students will learn how to recognize and manage the most common preventable causes of death in traumatic incidents, including massive hemorrhage, airway compromise, and chest injuries. The course prioritizes rapid decision-making, self-aid and buddy-aid, and working under stress—without relying on advanced medical equipment or hospital-level interventions. This class is taught by a combat veteran and former EMT/firefighter, blending real-world experience from emergency services and high-risk environments. Training cuts through unnecessary complexity and focuses on actionable skills that can be performed by non-medical professionals when seconds matter. Course Topics Include: Mindset and priorities of civilian / LE emergency trauma care Preventable causes of death and immediate interventions Tourniquet selection, placement, and use Wound packing and pressure techniques Basic airway management concepts for non-medical responders Chest injury recognition and considerations Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK) and EDC medical gear setup Legal and ethical considerations for civilian medical response Scenario-based application and skill reinforcement Who This Class Is For: Armed and unarmed civilians Law enforcement officers Security professionals Prepared citizens seeking practical lifesaving skills No prior medical training required. This course is not intended to replace EMT or hospital care but to bridge the gap between injury and arrival of professional responders.
