Class Description
The Beginner Pistol Course is designed to provide new shooters with a safe, supportive, and confidence-building introduction to handgun fundamentals. This course focuses on developing proper technique, safe weapons handling, and a solid foundation for future training. No prior experience is required—students will learn step-by-step under the guidance of a qualified instructor. Course Overview Students are introduced to the essential skills needed to safely operate and shoot a pistol with confidence. Through a combination of classroom instruction and live-fire range practice, participants learn handgun safety rules, grip, stance, sight alignment, trigger control, and basic marksmanship principles. The training pace is relaxed, ensuring each student receives individual attention and hands-on coaching. Core Training Topics Firearm safety and range procedures Understanding pistol types, parts, and operation Proper grip, stance, and body positioning Sight picture and sight alignment Trigger control and recoil management Basic marksmanship and accuracy drills Loading, unloading, and basic malfunction clearing Safe storage and responsible gun ownership Learning Objectives Students will learn to: Handle a handgun safely and confidently Understand and apply essential marksmanship fundamentals Operate their pistol efficiently and responsibly Demonstrate accuracy and consistency during live fire Build the foundation needed for intermediate and defensive training Ideal For First-time shooters, new gun owners, or anyone seeking a well-structured, safety-focused introduction to handgun use. Required Equipment- Firearm & Ammunition Reliable semi-automatic handgun or revolver 2-3 magazines minimum 400–600 rounds of factory ammunition Magazine loader Safety Gear ANSI-rated eye protection Ear protection (earplugs or earmuffs Holster & Carry Gear Strong-side holster Covers trigger guard completely Rigid (Kydex or quality leather) OWB or IWB as approved Sturdy belt (designed for firearm carry) At least 1 magazine pouch Closed-toe shoes Pants with belt loops Shirt that covers holster Hat with brim Class confirmation / waiver Range bag Notebook & pen Sharpie Recommended Comfort & Support Water Snacks or lunch Sunscreen / weather-appropriate gear Chair or folding stool Restrictions No shoulder, cross-draw No trigger finger style holsters (ex. Serpa) No tracer ammunition Sig 320 allowed however 320 waiver will be required to be signed.
