Class Description

The Basic Carbine Course introduces students to the fundamental skills needed to safely and confidently operate a modern carbine or rifle. Designed for new shooters and those looking to strengthen their foundational understanding, this course focuses on proper gun handling, accuracy, and responsible operation in a supportive, structured environment. Course Overview Students will learn essential safety principles, how their carbine functions, and the fundamental techniques required for accurate shooting. Through a combination of classroom instruction and live-fire range drills, participants build confidence with loading, unloading, sighting, controlling recoil, and maintaining stable shooting positions. The pace is beginner-friendly and ensures hands-on coaching every step of the way. Core Training Topics Firearm safety and range procedures Carbine parts, function, and basic operation Proper stance, grip, and rifle mounting Sight alignment, sight picture, and zeroing fundamentals Trigger control and recoil management Basic marksmanship at various distances Loading, unloading, and simple malfunction clearing Introduction to positional shooting (standing, kneeling, supported) Required Carbine & Accessories Reliable carbine rifle Optic Iron sights only are OK if you’re comfortable with them Sling Magazines: at least 3 to 5 Magazine loader Ammunition 500–1,000 rounds Personal Protective Equipment Eye protection Ear protection Electronic hearing protection is highly recommended Hat with brim Closed-toe shoes Load-Carrying Choose one: Belt-mounted mag pouches (2–3) Chest rig/ plate carrier (Optional) Jacket/hoodie pockets Support Gear Gun oil / lubricant Small cleaning kit Multi-tool Sharpie Notebook & pen Water + snacks Sunscreen / weather gear Optional Small personal IFAK if you have one Gloves Knee pads Dump pouch Backup optic batteries Sig 320 is allowed however 320 waiver will be required to be signed.
